Thomas Dandelet is a professor of history at the University of California (Berkeley), where he teaches the history of Renaissance Italy, the Spanish Empire, and the history of the Mediterranean world in the Early Modern period (1350-1800). He is the recipient of Guggenheim, Fulbright, and Mellon grants and a fellow of the American Academy in Rome (2000). His books include Spanish Rome (Yale, 2001); The Renaissance of Empire in Early Modern Europe (Cambridge, 2014); and Spain in Italy (Brill, 2006) edited with John Marino.
